There's far too many things to mention here, but as a starter…
National Trust properties
The National Trust properties Cotehele and Lanhydrock are close by (Cotehele 15 minutes and Lanhydrock abut 40 minutes in the car).
Beaches
The nearest beach (Whitsand Bay) is a 25 minute drive away but there loads more further down the coast, into Devon or even on the north coast.
Local village pubs
There are some lovely local villages with great pubs nearby - including Pillaton, Hatt, Landulph and Pentillie. The Weary Friar public house is a local favourite serving good food and ales, and is walk-able from Oakridge along quiet country lanes.
The Tamar Valley is a designated AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) that offers an unspoilt, beautiful and dramatic landscape that is rich in wildlife and only a 15 minute drive away.
Rame Head peninsula has great coastal walks and is only about 30 minutes away.
Plymouth is only 20 minutes away and has the National Marine Aquarium and magnificent Art Deco Tinside Lido.
The traditional fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, with their narrow streets and picturesque harbours, are 30 and 40 minutes away.
The Bodmin & Wenford Railway is a Standard Gauge Railway that operates mainly steam locomotives through March to December on a 13 mile round trip through beautiful countryside. Just 40 minutes away.
The world-famous Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are within an hour’s drive.
Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor offer fantastic walks and horse riding.
Bude and Padstow are about one hour away on the north Cornwall coast.
